The 22-year-old headed to Pachucho Tattoo shop in California during the summer to get inked up in the logo of his own fashion brand ‘LaFrance’ or ‘LF’.
The art is designed in the diploma font and it was one of three tattoos he got as a celebration for his most recent birthday in August ahead of the 2023-24 season.
He started the clothing line in 2020 before he was drafted by the Hornets and recently collaborated with PUMA in September to create a collection that was officially released on October
He is currently being sued in a separate case for $200m by Alan Foster as part of his ‘Big Baller Brand’ alongside his father, LaVar Ball. It’s at least the third lawsuit between LaVar and Foster, with the latter claiming infringements cost him over $200m in damages.
The Charlotte Hornets followed the Carolina Panthers’ selection of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft on April 27 by choosing Crimson Tide forward Brandon Miller with the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft on June 22.
With both former Alabama All-Americans in Charlotte, Miller was asked on Tuesday during the Hornets’ media day about his contact with the “kind of struggling” quarterback – an assessment with which Miller disagreed.
He’s a great player,” Washington said. “I feel like his game really translates well to the league, and I feel like he can pretty much do everything on the floor offensively and also defensively. He has good size, a good frame, he can shoot the ball, he can dribble, he can pass, so there’s not a lot of things he can’t do on the court. I’m just excited to see him out there and excited to see how he progresses with his career.”
Miller thinks training camp already has gotten off to a good start for him because he reported at his goal-weight of 210 pounds. He hopes to use the time before Charlotte tips off the 2023-24 campaign against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 25 to build bonds with his new teammates.
“It’s definitely an exciting moment just here with other great guys as far as LaMelo Ball, (Terry Rozier)’s here, P.J. Washington, Gordon Hayward, all those guys,” Miller said. “They’ve all been good to me, treat me like family away from home.”
The Hornets have a four-game preseason schedule: Charlotte visits the Miami Heat on Oct. 10 and the Washington Wizards on Oct. 12 before home games against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 15 and Boston Celtics on Oct. 19.
We talk probably every week,” Miller said. “Struggling? No. It’s all learning. We’re both rookies. Just here as a sponge just soaking all the information we can to make us better in our career.”
Young went right into the Panthers’ starting lineup. Although he’s missed one game with an ankle injury, he’ll be under center when Carolina visits the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Miller is expected to make an early impact for the Hornets, too, after he averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 37 games and won the SEC Player of the Year Award for the 2022-23 season – his only one at Alabama.
Charlotte posted a 27-55 record last season, hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2016 and most recently won a postseason series in 2002. Miller led Alabama to the SEC regular-season and tournament championships and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament last season. The Tide won two games in the tourney before San Diego State upended Alabama on the Aztecs’ way to the national championship game.
“His IQ, his ability to pay attention, learn and do stuff right away without all this extra repetition, he’s one of the quickest learners so far that I’ve ever been around in 20-plus years,” Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said on Monday. “And you can see it in the September workouts, where we’re limited. But I’ve already had a number of the older guys come over and say he’s going to help us, like, right away because of those things.”
Preparing for his fifth season with the Hornets, power forward P.J. Washington said Miller will make an impact.
