Report now; Nottingham forest players made£100m huge bonus payments to keep forest in Premier League…
Marinakis to repeat flawed Nottingham Forest strategy with club he’s just invested in
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has invested some money in the Portuguese outfit Rio Ave. The Reds owner is now going to call upon his old friend Jorge Mendes – just like he did when he first took over at Forest.
Marinakis has done plenty of good during his time at Forest. His millions and the decision to bring in Steve Cooper have helped the club back into the Premier League and the next challenge is to stabilise in the top flight.
Marinakis was voted onto the board of Rio Ave on Sunday. Club members planned a vote and it was announced later that day that he would be investing in the club.
Marinakis calls on Mendes once again
Forest tried and largely failed when it came to Mendes clients. Gil Dias, Diogo Goncalves and Joao Carvalho were all on his books and only Carvalho looked remotely like having anything about him.

Now, O Jogo claims that Marinakis is set to go into business with Mendes once again. Rio Ave will seek new signings in January and the pair will try and get some deals done.
In fairness, some of the players that Forest signed from Mendes and his portfolio of players might be okay in the Portuguese top-flight and the strategy could succeed this time around.
Forest keen to move on from Marinakis strategy
The concept of doing this type of thing was a romantic one. Mendes had previously helped Wolves with the signings of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Helder Costa as they romped to the Championship title.
It never quite worked out at Forest though and Marinakis will hope for better success with Mendes on board at Rio Ave.
The Greek’s new venture in Portugal looks like an intriguing one. The club has a lot of potential and January could be crucial with the club hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
