Before Livingston, Brendan Rodgers gives a Celtic injury update on Nat Phillips and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Celtic boss admits he is unsure if he’ll have the on loan defender available this weekend
Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, acknowledges that he is still waiting to see how Nat Phillips is recuperating before Saturday’s Premiership match with Livingston because he missed the midweek loss to Feyenoord.
The center back, who is on loan from Liverpool, played only 45 minutes against Dundee last week before twisting his ankle and was replaced by Gustaf Lagerbielke, who was later dismissed in the Champions League. He and Liam Scales are both available for this weekend’s game against Livingston, but Celtic are down to their bare essentials at the defense, so Phillips’ availability would be a significant advantage for the Hoops.
And while Rodgers assured that Cameron Carter-Vickers is still on track to make a comeback in October, he acknowledged that it is still up in the air as to whether he will be able to include him in the team for the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena for the live TV game on Saturday afternoon.
We’ll see how Nat Phillips is, he stated in a statement to Sky Sports. We’ll see how he is because he rolled his ankle fairly badly the following week. Before we join the squad, we have another 24 hours to go. Others are all good. It was fantastic to see Reo Hatate on the field despite the fact that he is still working on his fitness.
And he added: “It’s early October, the day of Carter-Vickers’ homecoming. He’s still a few ways off.
