According to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors, seven organizations sent players to personally scout Saturday’s game between Ohio State and Rutgers: the San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Chargers.
In the most recent 2024 NFL mock draft by Bleacher Report, four Buckeyes players were included, with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. leading the bunch. They also included edge rusher JT Tuimoloau, wideout Emeka Egbuka, and cornerback Denzel Burke, though Burke is questionable for Saturday.
Harrison is considered by many to be among the top players of all time, not simply the best pass-catcher in the 2024 draft class. On B/R’s big board, he was placed #1, ahead of Caleb Williams of USC.
“Harrison Jr. is the whole package,” wrote writer Derrik Klassen. “At 6’4″ and 205 pounds, Harrison is a skilled and explosive route runner. He can attack defenders vertically with his speed and stop-start abilities, and he can move quickly and shift direction to exploit gaps in the short-to-intermediate range.”
At SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, scouts from the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Chargers will be there in addition to the Jets and Niners.
Harrison could be a top target on Saturday, given that the Bears and Panthers are both very near the bottom of the NFL rankings.
In his five outings, Egbuka has amassed 22 receptions for 303 yards and four touchdowns, making a significant impact in the passing game as well.
The junior’s ankle ailment has kept him out of action for almost a month. He is anticipated to return against the Scarlet Knights, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel’s report on Saturday morning.
For a team that has turned out a number of excellent defensive linemen in recent years, Tuimoloau is yet another star. He has been particularly successful since OSU started playing in conferences. Over the past four games, the 6’4″, 270-pound defender has recorded four sacks and three quarterback hits.
