An ankle injury sustained in the match against Brazil kept Casemiro out of the match against Sheffield United, after he was introduced in the 11th minute of his country’s draw with Venezuela.
“He asked to withdraw because he hit his ankle,” Brazilian coach Fernando Diniz told the media.
However, Casemiro was photographed returning to training ahead of Tuesday night’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo, raising hopes that his injury has healed.

Luke Shaw
Left-back Shaw last played for United on August 19 before being ruled out for around 10 weeks when he was diagnosed with a leg muscle injury shortly afterwards.

United are expected to have Varane back at the weekend after missing the win over Brentford due to a “minor” problem.

Martinez last competed in 2023 after undergoing a second foot surgery.
