An ankle injury sustained in the match against Brazil kept Casemiro out of the match against Sheffield United, after he was introduced in the 11th minute of his country’s draw with Venezuela.
“He asked to withdraw because he hit his ankle,” Brazilian coach Fernando Diniz told the media.
However, Casemiro was photographed returning to training ahead of Tuesday night’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo, raising hopes that his injury has healed.

Luke Shaw
Left-back Shaw last played for United on August 19 before being ruled out for around 10 weeks when he was diagnosed with a leg muscle injury shortly afterwards.
Ten Hag refused to give a timeframe for his return from injury but the England international is yet to return to training.

United are expected to have Varane back at the weekend after missing the win over Brentford due to a “minor” problem.
“He couldn’t take part in the match, he had a small problem,” Ten Hag said of Varane’s absence.
“If it were two or three days later, he could do it, but now it’s too short.
”

Lisandro Martinez
Martinez last competed in 2023 after undergoing a second foot surgery.
After undergoing surgery on a broken metatarsal in the spring, the Argentine defender felt discomfort in September’s matches against Brighton and Bayern Munich before confirming he would be out of action for another three months.

Having been out of action for pre-season with a knee problem, the young winger said he would be “just a little bit longer before returning” amid reports of a possible loan move in January .

A two-month layoff appears to be coming to an end for Mainoo after returning to training earlier this month.
