Arsenal are said to have joined the race to sign Liverpool transfer target Andre, with the Gunners’ sporting director visiting the Fluminense training ground.
A new report from Brazil, considered a good source of information about Fluminense, suggests that Arsenal could soon join the race for Andre’s signature.
This Is Anfield understands that Liverpool had a ÂŁ25m bid rejected for the midfielder this summer and the Red Devils are still believed to be interested in signing the Brazil international.
However, there could be a twist in the story, as according to Thiago Ferreira, “Arsenal are interested in Andre and will try to overtake Liverpool for him.
Adding fuel to the fire was the visit of Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar to the Fluminense training ground on Friday.
The official reason for the visit was to learn more about the club’s youth development and to continue the partnership between the club.
While one could argue that Ferreira is just putting two and two together, in Brazil we’ve been told he’s not one to assume that easily.
A healthy relationship between Arsenal and Fluminense will certainly benefit the transfer.
Brazilian journalist Josue Seixas recently told This Is Anfield:
“The team (Fluminense) won’t function without him, I think they will try to keep him as long as possible, which is December, the end of the Brazilian season.
”All signs point to Andre leaving in the January transfer window, after the conclusion of the Copa Libertadores, a tournament in which Fluminense reached the final.
They will face Boca Juniors at their home stadium, the famous Maracana, on November 4, and all eyes in England will be on the home team’s midfield.
