Dean Jones, a football analyst, is excited to watch Lesley Ugochukwu, a French-Nigerian midfielder, play with Chelsea’s most expensive player.
Moisés Caicedo, who cost Chelsea the most money, is paired with Ugochukwu.
The Ecuadorian moved to Chelsea from Brighton & Hove for a cost of £115 million, if add-ons are taken into account, becoming the most expensive player ever to be bought by a Premier League team.
When Ugochukwu joined the Blues in the summer, it was not anticipated that he would play a key role for the team this year. He was eligible to go on loan, but Mauricio Pochettino chose to keep him.
He received his first Premier League start of the season last weekend as Chelsea drew a scoreless match with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium due to a long list of ailments for the Stamford Bridge team.
The 19-year-old’s boss was pleased with his performance against the Cherries, which might be very beneficial to him as the season progresses.
Jones has stated that he hopes to see the Super Eagles-eligible midfielder partner with Caicedo in the middle of the field and thinks he could be one of the less-heralded additions who succeeds.
“Yeah, people always look at the top-level signings and the numbers around those as the players that are going to define how good the squad is,” he said to GIVEMESPORT.
But what we occasionally overlook are the mid-range acquisitions that are made to genuinely bolster a squad. In fact, they occasionally progress to stardom and become into reliable players.
One of those players that has the potential to do it is Ugochukwu. I’m interested in seeing him with Caicedo, if you can imagine it.
When Chelsea plays Aston Villa this afternoon at Stamford Bridge, it is uncertain if Ugochukwu will receive his second consecutive Premier League start.
He has participated in four games for the Blues this season in all competitions.
