Kim Caldwell’s Tennessee lineup change in SEC Tournament helped Lady Vols escape worst week of season

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Kim Caldwell had two days to right the ship before the 2025 postseason started for Lady Vols basketball.
The first-year Tennessee coach was steady. There wasn’t a panic when the Lady Vols played their two worst games of the season going into the SEC Tournament. She didn’t focus only on the negatives, even though there were plenty.
She did, however, have her typical brevity in her message to her team.
“She just literally told us, have a come-to-Jesus moment and get back to how we were before,” redshirt freshman Kaniya Boyd said.
It took just one quarter against No. 16 seed Texas A&M (10-19) at Bon Secours Wellness Arena for the No. 9 seed Lady Vols to find themselves again.
They took control of the game in the second quarter in a 77-37 blowout win to open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday.
