Notre Dame and Hannah Hidalgo were humbled mightily on Senior Night, just hours after the Fighting Irish were giving a boost in the NCAA rankings.
Hours before Notre Dame’s matchup against the No. 24-ranked Florida State, the NCAA released brackets for the top 16 teams in the nation. Because of South Carolina’s 29-point loss to UConn earlier in the month, Notre Dame was given the No. 1 seed over Dawn Staley’s squad.And riding that wave, the Fighting Irish were expected to continue their impressive season against the Seminoles, especially on a night when Notre Dame was to honor their seniors. However, the opposite happened as Florida State traveled to South Bend and gave Notre Dame its first home conference loss of the season.
