On Monday, Dallas Cowboys player Dak Prescott filed a lawsuit against a woman who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by him and wanted money to keep quiet.
According to court documents cited by FOX 4, Prescott said in the complaint that he received a letter in January from the female accuser’s attorneys requesting $100 million in exchange for her silence about the allegations. The accuser stated that following his debut season in Dallas in 2017, Prescott had sexually abused her.
The 30-year-old quarterback’s attorneys refuted the allegations in a $1 million countersuit he filed against the woman.
According to a statement released by Levi McCathern, Prescott’s lawyer, “Mr. Prescott—a new father to a baby girl—has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault,” as reported by ESPN. “He firmly feels that everyone who commits such a crime ought to face the worst penalties available.
“To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never had sex with anyone without their will. Lies cause pain. in particular, dishonest lies. We refuse to let the defendant and her attorneys make money off of this attempt to demand millions of dollars from Mr. Prescott.”
In a statement, Bethel Zehaie informed WFAA-TV that Prescott admitted to being with the woman the evening of the alleged
“In our initial conversations with his lawyer Levi, he adamantly denied knowing our client,” she stated to the reporter. “He acknowledged knowing (the woman) and that he was with her the night she was sexually attacked in our next conversation, which was only a week or two later. He never once denied this incident before the lawsuit was filed.
“We maintain our integrity. Playing hardball and victim-blaming, Dak and his attorneys are attempting to act like bullies. The truth does not frighten us. Due to the sexual attack, (the woman) has had to go to treatment and has experienced trauma. In my office, this young lady was crying uncontrollably. Dak must be made to answer for his
