With his return, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is apologizing.
The cornerback apologized on social media for remarks he had made against the Philadelphia fan base after playing for the team, on the same day that he allegedly inked a three-year contract worth up to $33 million with the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I do owe the fans of Philly an apology,” Gardner-Johnson stated on social media in a post that went up on Tuesday. “Anyway, we made some moments together and this is a great place! Let’s go grab a #FlyEaglesFly together.”
Gardner-Johnson played with the New Orleans Saints for his first three seasons of his career before being moved to the Eagles in August of 2022. With his career-high 67 tackles and six interceptions, Gardner-Johnson, then 25 years old, tied Justin Simmons, Riq Woolen, and Minkah Fitzpatrick for the most in the NFL. It was also his most productive season to date.

The 25-year-old Gardner-Johnson had his most successful season to date, tying Justin Simmons, Riq Woolen, and Minkah Fitzpatrick for the most interceptions with six and 67 tackles, respectively, according to career highs.
