The Atlanta Falcons picked Raheem Morris, the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator, as their head coach on Thursday, concluding an extensive search that featured six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick.
Morris, 47, is a familiar figure in Atlanta, having served as interim coach for the Falcons’ final 11 games of the 2020 season following Dan Quinn’s sacking. He formerly coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three years.
The Falcons hired Morris after interviewing 14 candidates, the most notable of which was Belichick.
Earlier Thursday, the team held a second interview with Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. In the end, the Falcons chose to go with an experienced coach who has been in the league for all but one season.
