Cincinnati — Spotrac issued contract forecasts for some of the NFL’s top wide receivers, projecting Ja’Marr Chase to sign a four-year, $120 million deal extension.
Cincinnati can make an offer to him this offseason.
“Injuries to himself & to QB Joe Burrow over the past two seasons have limited Chase’s ability to reach his max ceiling,” according to the report. “Cincinnati is likely to pay a king’s ransom to see that happen in their offensive shortly. The 24-year-old has two years and $26.6 million remaining on his rookie contract through 2025, so there is no imminent need to make a decision here, but it is absolutely worth addressing. Spotrac predicts a $70 million guarantee over the next three seasons, including back-to-back $20 million bonuses to keep cap hits at bay as this competing squad continues to
become increasingly pricey across the board.
It would be negligent of Cincinnati not to sign Chase to an extension as soon as possible. The game is relatively straightforward with exceptional, established NFL players in premium positions: Pay them as soon as humanly can.
If the Bengals had extended Jessie Bates III or Tee Higgins as soon as possible during the initial window, they would have gotten a good deal. Talent like this will only become more expensive.
