GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers have started the search for the organization’s next CEO.
Packers current CEO/President Mark Murphy will retire in July 2025, following Green Bay’s first hosting of the NFL Draft.
The Packers organization currently holds a mandatory retirement age for the CEO position in their by-laws; Murphy turns 70 on July 13, 2025.
Susan Finco, vice president and lead director of the Packers Executive Committee, will chair the search committee for the Packers Board of Directors.
“Mark has made enormous contributions to the organization,” Finco remarked. “Mark continues to set up the Packers for success, from modernizing the corporate leadership structure to expanding and diversifying revenue to enhancing the team’s significant community influence. We anticipate his perceptive leadership for the ensuing 18 months.
Vice-chair of the search committee Dan Ariens is also the secretary of the executive committee and the chair of the personnel and compensation committee. Other members of the search committee include treasurer Mike Simmer, executive committee member DJ Long, executive committee member Marcia Anderson, executive committee member Karl Schmidt, and Packers player Michael Barber Board members at-large Eddie Garcia, a former player; Robyn Davis; Mike Daniels; and Jeff Joerres, the chair of the investment committee, compose the Foundation.
The highly acclaimed national search company Korn Ferry, with whom the organization has previously collaborated, is assisting the search committee. Heading the Korn Ferry team is Jed Hughes, who has worked with the Packers on prior high-level searches, such as the one that nominated Murphy to replace Bob Harlan in 2007, according to a Packers release. Hughes adds decades of elite experience to the process.
Hughes remarked, “We are happy to be working with the search committee to identify the next leader of this special and storied franchise. We have a long and positive history with the Green Bay Packers.” “We are proud to have worked with the NFL and its teams for more than 50 years.”
Apart from Hughes, Garrick Yu, Divina Gamble, and Tierney Remick make up the Korn Ferry crew.
“Our new leader will shape the future of the Packers, so our search committee takes this responsibility very seriously,” Ariens stated. “We are happy to be able to work with Jed Hughes and his team at Korn Ferry, and have been preparing for this important process for the past few months. It will be comprehensive and comply with NFL rules and requirements.”
The search committee’s work is expected to take six to nine months, after which it is expected to present its recommendation to the board of directors for a vote.
The selected candidate will then work alongside Murphy during a transition period.
