The Washington Commanders announce head coach Dan Quinn’s new coaching staff

Although the Washington Commanders’ new coaching staff has been the subject of much speculation, head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. were the only confirmed additions up until now. This morning, Washington released a list of the new and returning coaches on Quinn’s staff in addition to announcing the hire of Larry Izzo as coordinator of special teams. We’ve already reported on and discussed the majority of these people in our ongoing coverage of Washington’s coaching and front office changes.

Out of Ron Rivera’s coaching staff, Quinn only kept three: Tavita Pritchard, the quarterback coach, Bobby Engram, the WRs coach, and Ryan Kerrigan, the assistant LBs coach. The coordinators are the well-known names, but Washington also has a former head coach who has a wealth of expertise to the group. Work closely with new offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, Anthony Lynn was stolen from the 49ers to become the Commanders’ coordinator of the run game and coach of the running backs.

Former QB coach and OC for the Philadelphia Eagles Although Brian Johnson’s position was not disclosed, it was anticipated that he would oversee the team’s offensive pass game. He received the title and the position of assistant head coach from Dan Quinn.
