Wilson had stated on Tuesday that the team had worked out with Gathings and tight end E.J. Jenkins. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State this spring, the 6-foot-4, 222-pound Gathings signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets. Listed as a wide receiver in training camp, he was not included in the 53-man roster for the Chiefs.

The Chicago Bears selected the 5-foot-11, 199-pound Miller in the second round (51st overall) out of Memphis in 2018. He caught 134 passes for 1,534 yards and 11 touchdowns in three seasons there. In 2022, he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Houston Texans. However, due to an injury sustained in August of that year, he was placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list, meaning he missed the entire 2022 season.

Miller was let go by Pittsburgh in June. He has since been a member of the San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts practice squads.
With these additions, Kansas City’s practice squad now has 18 players. Chukwuebuka Godrick, a player for the International Pathways Program, has a practice squad roster exemption, so the team can have 17 players on it. A related release is therefore anticipated, possibly on Wednesday afternoon.
