Vols find kicker Campbell is ‘everything that we had hoped for’
Charles Campbell has only one season on Tennessee’s football team.
The sixth-year senior kicker is absolutely making the most of it.
Campbell grew up in Jackson supporting the in-state Volunteers but played most of his college career at Indiana, where he made 76.5% of his field-goal attempts and led the Big Ten in distance with a 53-yarder in 2020 and a 55-yarder in 2021. Through his first eight games at Tennessee, the 5-foot-9, 181-pound graduate transfer has made 15 of 17 field-goal tries (88.2%), including all 15 from within 50 yards.
“He’s been everything that we hoped for and what we thought we were getting in him,” Vols coach Josh Heupel said this week. “He’s a great ball-striker, and he’s a true competitor, too.
