Unbelievable:Mike Sainristil announced his resignation from the Wolverines today After facing ….

Position switches in college football often occur when a player isn’t producing.
That wasn’t the case with Mike Sainristil at Michigan.
In his third season at wide receiver in 2021, he was a key target and his highlight-worthy catches seemed to set him up for a bright future on offense with the Wolverines.
Jim Harbaugh had another idea entering spring ball last year, suggesting Sainristil switch to defensive back.
Given how impressive he’s been defensively for the Wolverines over the last two seasons, it’s hard to believe that Mike Sainristil began his Michigan career as a wide receiver. Sainristil, a fifth year captain, recently became just the second defensive player from the conference to be named Big Ten Championship MVP – joining former Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson.
Before the big-time plays defensively, people might forget that Mike Sainristil was a big-time playmaker on offense as well. In fact, Sainristil was so good offensively in 2021 that he was named co-Offensive Skill Player of the Year at the University of Michigan.
In total, Sainristil has appeared in 60 games throughout his five-year Michigan career, making 33 starts (nine on offense, 23 on defense) – and he’s been responsible for some incredible moments during that time. From offense to defense, the Big Ten recently put together some of Sainristil’s top plays from the last five seasons.
Considering the fact the Wolverines are now in the midst of a third-straight playoff run, it seems a little premature to discuss Mike Sainristil’s legacy at the University of Michigan. There are still more games to be played, more plays to make, and more stories to be written. With all that being said, it’s hard to imagine any scenario where Sainristil isn’t remembered as one of the best to ever wear the winged helmet.
