Kyle McCord QB immediately resigned from Ohio after facing…….
Syracuse, . —Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord will commit to play football for Fran Brown at Syracuse University, sources told syracuse.com on Saturday night.
An official announcement on McCord’s commitment to Syracuse could come as early as Sunday.
McCord led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record last season as the team’s starting quarterback, throwing for more than 3,000 yards. He threw 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions for the Buckeyes.
McCord is ranked among the 10 best quarterbacks available in the transfer portal by both 247 Sports and On3Sports. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
McCord gives Syracuse a quarterback with one of the most impressive high school pedigrees that SU has welcomed during the modern recruiting era and a starter with experience at one of the biggest programs in college football to replace Garrett Shrader, who is out of eligibility.
McCord, a former five-star high school recruit out of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, was ranked as the No. 6 quarterback recruit in the country and the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania in the Class of 2021.
The last recruit to come to Syracuse with a similar recruiting profile was quarterback Cecil Howard, who was ranked the No. 13 recruit by Tom Lemming in 2001. Howard never wound up playing in a game for the Orange.
McCord visited Syracuse this weekend along with several other high-profile transfers including Texas A&M edge rusher Fadil Diggs, Florida-transfer defensive lineman Will Norman, wide receivers Zeed Haynes and Mekhi Mews (Georgia) and West Virginia-transfer linebacker James Heard Jr.
