The transfer dominoes could fall onto Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer as Manchester City and Manchester United plot major business.
AC Milan have reportedly lined up Wolverhampton Wanderers left wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri as a transfer target in case Theo Hernandez leaves the San Siro this summer.
Milan are concerned about losing Hernandez for free as the France international’s contract expires in June 2026, so clubs could swoop in to try and secure a bargain in the next transfer window. Eager not to lose quality on the left side of defence, Milan are already eyeing potential replacements in case Hernandez departs.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport reports Milan have got Ait-Nouri “in their crosshairs” with the Algerian among a shortlist of targets. Liverpool have long-standing interest in the versatile 23-year-old, who has become a key player for Wolves at both ends of the field over recent seasons.
Milan, currently seventh in the Italian top flight standings, are battling on the fringes of the race for Champions League qualification for next season after recently being knocked out by Feyenoord in the last 16 play-off round of this year’s competition. The gap to bitter rivals and league leaders Inter is growing, so getting transfer business right is pivotal.

Keeping Hernandez may not be on the agenda, however, with TEAMtalk reporting Manchester City are among the clubs keeping tabs on the defender. Pep Guardiola’s side are said to be ramping up their interest and are being tipped to make an official approach in the summer, with Milan willing to accept offers in the region of €35 million (£29m).
Manchester United, albeit set to be without European football next campaign, are reportedly looking to rival City in the race for Hernandez. Pianeta Milan reports – via Football Transfers – that the Red Devils are seriously considering making a move for the transfer listed left-back despite recently acquiring the services of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for £25 million.

Ait-Nouri pivotal to Wolves
The Old Gold will be hoping Hernandez stays put at Milan as Ait-Nouri is a vital member of Vitor Pereira’s squad and his departure would come as a huge blow. Milan could of course consider alternatives – relieving Wolves – but the current speculation suggests Ait-Nouri is among the top targets.
Signed from French Ligue 1 side Angers in 2020 for around £10 million, Ait-Nouri has always had bags of potential to become a top Premier League player. It took three seasons to properly bed in at Molineux as the now 23-year-old adjusted to the Premier League with many of his appearances coming off the bench.
Last season felt like a real breakthrough moment for Ait-Nouri as he played 38 times across all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists in nearly 2,600 minutes of action. This campaign has been even better as Ait-Nouri has started 26 of Wolves’ 27 Premier League matches, notching an impressive three goals and five assists.
Best deployed as a left wing-back with a back three behind him, Ait-Nouri does lack a little with his defensive positioning but he’s more than capable of tracking back and putting in a good tackle. With his talents becoming all the more recognised, his €35 million (£29m) value – as per Transfermarkt – is likely to soar.
