Carson Beck is leaving Georgia and hitting the transfer portal as the top available quarterback — and could soon also become the highest-paid transfer in college football history. Multiple outlets reported on Jan. 9 that the Bulldogs starter was planning to transfer, with a destination potentially already in mind. Beck was seen as one of the top quarterbacks available for the 2025 NFL draft, but struggled throughout the season and was hurt in the SEC title game, cutting his season short.
Georgia’s season came to an end with a loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff, with Beck’s future uncertain at the time. The quarterback initially declared his eligibility for the NFL draft, but can remove his name anytime up until Feb. 7.
As Beck prepares for the coming college football season, he is expected to garner significant compensation from his next destination. “Carson Beck is now in recovery and training mode, preparing for the 2025 season,” reported Pete Nakos of On3. “He is expected to be one of the highest-paid transfers in college football history. The Jacksonville native has one year of eligibility remaining and is expected to evaluate some quarterback-needy teams as possible destinations.”
