Fever coach Carlos Knox made a shocking admission regarding Kelsey Mitchell’s injury during their game against the Mystics, revealing that he was “scared” by the severity of the injury. Mitchell, a star guard for the Fever, went down in the second quarter with an apparent ankle injury, causing a collective gasp from the crowd.
As she clutched her ankle in pain, Knox immediately rushed onto the court, his face etched with concern. After a few moments, Mitchell was helped off the court, unable to put weight on her ankle.
I was scared,” Knox admitted in a post-game interview. “When Kelsey went down, my heart sank. She’s our leader, our sparkplug. To see her in that much pain was tough to watch.”
The Fever went on to lose the game, but Knox’s primary concern was Mitchell’s health. “We’ll do everything we can to get her back on the court as soon as possible,” he vowed.
