Tuesday saw Luka Jovic get a two-match Serie A punishment for colliding with a rival during AC Milan’s thrilling 4-2 loss to Monza over the weekend.
Serbian forward Jovic was sent off early in the second half, with his team trailing two goals, for slapping Monza’s Armando Izzo, according to a statement released by Serie A.
With two minutes remaining, Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic made light of their man-down status by tying the score, but Warren Bondo and Lorenzo Colombo’s late goals startled Monza.
Jovic will miss the team’s games against Lazio and Atalanta, who are competing for a berth in the redesigned Champions League for the upcoming season.
Moreover struck with Mariano Fabiani, the sports director of Lazio, received a severe punishment after going on a tirade against referees during Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Bologna. He was suspended for one month.
After the first half, Fabiani “entered the field, contesting the referee’s performance in a threatening and intimidating manner,” for which he was given a one-match ban.
Serie A further stated that Fabiani pushed the referee out of rage as the teams entered the tunnel.
