Sources: Newcastle United and Aston Villa lead race for Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keen on Arsenal fringe star Emile Smith Rowe, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed both sides could approach the Gunners about the 23-year-old if he is made available this summer.
Sources have told Football Insider that Arsenal are weighing up the possible sale of Smith Rowe and will have a huge decision to make on his future in the off-season.
The midfielder has made just three starts across this season due to injuries and fierce competition for places at the Emirates Stadium.
Smith Rowe was the subject of loan interest from West Ham in the January transfer window, but Arsenal chose to keep him as they target success in the Premier League and Europe.
West Ham have made Smith Rowe approach
He came through the ranks at Arsenal and therefore any sale will be pure profit for Financial Fair Play purposes.
Newcastle could be a potential destination for the England international as they look to take their squad to the next level in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are long-term admirers and previously tried to sign him before he penned a new deal – which will run until June 2026.
It is believed Villa boss Unai Emery is a big fan of Smith Rowe after their time together at Arsenal.
He has made just 14 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign and could be facing another spell out with a recent ankle injury.
In other news, new details emerge as Aston Villa agree big-money deal.
