Agreed:Giants in agreement with the exchange of DexterLawrence, over $392.4million today and his leaving immediately……
New York Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence was named to the 2023 Pro Bowl roster, the only first-ballot member of the Giants selected for the annual event.
This is the second consecutive year Lawrence has been voted by the fans, his peers, and NFL coaches to the Pro Bowl, making him the first Giants defensive lineman to accomplish earning consecutive nods since end Jason Pierre-Paul did so in 2011 and 2012.
Lawerence is also the team’s first interior lineman to be selected to multiple Pro Bowls since tackle Arnie Weinmeister went to four in a row from 1950-1953, and is the first Giants player selected to successive Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins (2016 to 2018).
Lawrence, who has been limited of late with a hamstring issue, is currently Pro Football Focus’s top-ranked interior defensive lineman, its top-ranked pass rusher among interior defensive linemen, and the third-best run defender among his position group.
His 61 pressures rank sixth among all defensive interior linemen, and his 34 STOPS rank 12. His 4.5 sacks are second on the Giants’ defense behind outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Running back Saquon Barkley, who has two Pro Bowl berths under his belt (the most recent being in 2022), was named a second alternate, and Thibodeaux was named a third alternate.
Barkley is 14th in the NFL with 916 rushing yards despite missing three early-season games with a sprained ankle earlier this season. He leads the Giants in rushing and receiving touchdowns, with four each.
Thibodeaux currently leads the Giants in sacks with 11.5, tying him for ninth in the league in that category. He is the first Giants defender to reach double-digit sacks since Leonard Williams did so in 2020 and the first outside linebacker to accomplish that feat since Markus Golden registered 10 in 2019.
