Wentz’s first three NFL stops have all ended poorly, but he was an MVP candidate in his second season with the Eagles and put up respectable numbers in Indianapolis. After a disappointing season with the Commanders, Wentz wasn’t expected to be given a starting job in what would be his eighth NFL season.
Still, it’s unusual for a quarterback who threw 20 more touchdowns than interceptions only two years ago to still be a free agent one month before the season begins, particularly after 64 different quarterbacks started a game last year.
