Sad report:Nico Collins finally lost his career in Texans after facing…..
Fantasy Football Live’s Andy Behrens and Matt Harmon react to the latest injury news before Sunday’s Week 16 games kick off.
ANDY BEHRENS: Welcome to week 16. In keeping with the season, by which I mean the fantasy playoffs, we of course, have a bunch of injuries to worry about. I’m Andy Behrens. He’s the great Matt Harmon. We’re going to help you navigate the Sunday mayhem.
You can look here at the key actives and inactives on semi-final weekend. You see the early games. You see the late games. Matt, we’re going to get Nico Collins back this week. That’s pretty exciting. But it’s a challenging match-up against the Browns defense.
And it’s got Case Keenum at quarterback here. I think we should also mention your guy, Dontayvion Wicks. He should get some additional work given the banged up state of Green Bay’s receiving corps.
MATT HARMON: Yeah. Collins is a complicated case because he is back. He missed one week last time with his same calf injury. He only misses one week this time. I thought it might end up being a little bit longer since it was a re-aggravation, but it’s not. There are a lot of ways that you can talk yourself out of Nico Collins this week. It’s the match-up with the Browns. It’s the fact that it’s Case Keenum, who took a minute to settle in. I don’t know about you, Andy, but like in the first half I was thinking, man, they just played Case Keenum. We sure about that? Because the veteran leadership. And by the end of the game, you know what? Actually, Keenum throwing some heaters. That was probably the right call over Davis Mills.
I think that’s like a mixed bag. But then the third variable here is that Nico Collins himself is really, really, really good at the game. And those big in-breaking routes actually fits pretty well with Case Keenum’s skill set. I think you have to consider him. While he was like kind of a set it and forget it high end two at the very worst with CJ Stroud, I think with Case Keenum in this match-up you kind of have to consider him a volatile wide receiver three.
So that’s kind of where I settle on the Nico Collins thing. Dontayvion Wicks though, man, I’ve been trying all week to talk myself into playing Dontayvion Wicks in several leagues. And I think I’m finally going to do it here on Sunday morning. Man, this guy is a very good player. His route participation has jumped in four straight games. He had 97 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
Guy is just a baller, man. He’s a really good route runner. He was fifth in terms of the rookies that I charted for the rookie report and reception, perception, and success rate versus press. That quality technical ability has shined in kind of a limited role. A banged up receiver corps, as you mentioned. I think he is– long term I think he’s got a chance to be easily one of their top three receivers, maybe their number two or maybe even their number one.
This guy’s a really good player. And obviously, the Panthers have some good players in the secondary. Their pass defense overall has been solid. But still, the Packers should score a lot of points in this game. And I think Wicks can get in on the party.
