Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore defended his quarterback, Justin Fields, when the media asked him about NFL prospects Caleb Williams and Drake Maye following the team dropping to a 5-9 record with a road loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in Week 15 of the 2023 season.
Moore, 26, looked frustrated when he was asked about Chicago’s quarterback discussion heading into next season for a second consecutive week.
“Bro, I don’t know. Ya’ll asked me that last week? Somebody asked me that last week,” Moore said. “I’m still like, ‘where are ya’ll see this?’ What makes him not a good quarterback for the Chicago Bears right now?
“I get it, you got everybody coming out. There’s like two of them. I don’t think [Caleb Williams and Drake Maye] are better than Justin. They’re cool.”
Justin Fields has a 9-28 record in his career
Fields, 24, has only one nine games in 37 career matches and now the Bears have a chance of drafting a generational talent in either Williams or Maye.
It’s understandable that Moore is simply being a good teammate to Fields and he would probably do the same for either Williams or Maye if the Bears do end up drafting one of them.
There is enough of a sample size from Fields to move on and try a new approach with a fresh set of hands under center.
