Suspension:Brock Vandagriff has been suspended definitely his not playing…
Vandagriff was a candidate to transfer in the spring after Carson Beck seemingly won the starting job after G-Day earlier this year. Instead, the Athens native stuck it out, citing how much he was learning with the Bulldogs.
“I’m learning stuff, I’m getting better under coach [Todd] Monken and now coach [Mike] Bobo,” Vandagriff said in the Spring. “If I wasn’t getting reps, I wasn’t getting better, then yeah I would’ve left, but just being able to know my game is getting better mentally and physically. I’m learning so much about the game of football and I’m going against one of the best defenses, one of the fastest defenses in the SEC and in the nation. I’m a better player for it and that’s one of the main reasons.”
Now, Vandagriff will take his experience, knowledge and athleticism to Lexington, Kentucky to work with longtime head coach Mark Stoops and offensive coordinator Liam Coen. The rising fourth year will now compete to take over for former quarterback Devin Leary, who had an underwhelming season and didn’t quite fill the shoes of eventual second-round pick Will Levis the way Kentucky might have hoped.
Vandagriff will have the chance to face his former school in a regular season game, as the Bulldogs will travel to Kentucky on Sept. 14 in their third game of the season.
