Steelers Shut Down QB Change
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers will stick with Mitch Trubisky as their starting quarterback in Week 15, head coach confirmed during his weekly press conference.
Trubisky completed 22 of 35 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown but also threw an interception. Tomlin said the veteran quarterback “got better” throughout the game, and anticipates that to continue with another week of practice.
“I thought Mitch picked up his play as the game wore on,” Tomlin said. “That’s a reasonable expectation for him to be even better because of that experience and because of having the experience of a full week’s prep this week.”
Steelers have a veteran backup in Mason Rudolph, who has been brought up in recent days as a player the team should consider starting. Rudolph hasn’t played since the 2021 season and is 5-4-1 as a starter in the NFL.
Pittsburgh will get a full week of practice before facing the Indianapolis Colts, after being on a short week last week. Tomlin said Rudolph will also get some reps with the starters in preparation for the Colts.
