Aston Villa surprised when the expert lost his memory about what he saw at Villa Park, “something stupid”.
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist.
Each week he will give his views on the key talking points at Villa Park.
Alan Hutton can’t believe he sees Aston Villa finishing so high in the Premier League table at this stage this season.
Sunday’s 3-1 win over Fulham saw Unai Emery’s side enter the final international break of 2023 in fifth place and just three points off the top.
It has been a great season so far for the Villans, who are in great form in front of their home fans at Villa Park.
Hutton is surprised by the club’s form in B6, with the Villans currently just one point off the Champions League qualifying places.
Speaking to Villa News, Hutton said: “It was a decent game.
“At home, it was their 13th win in a row, which is quite unbelievable.
Villa Park is an absolute fortress.
Right now, they are just restless at home.
“It’s very difficult to play against them.
I know they missed their chances because it shows in the goals scored against them at this high line.
But going forward they always look like they can score and that is a very good quality.
During transitions, they are very fast.
“Overall it was a good performance and the manager was happy.
“Their championship position right now is unbelievable, fifth place, just one point from fourth place and three points from first place, such stupidity.
“It’s wonderful to see them flying so high at this time.
” In other Aston Villa news, the club have been urged to sign a new striker as concerns over Ollie Watkins emerge.
