Lincoln City have confirmed that Leeds United’s Michael Skubala has been appointed as new head coach.
Skubala joined Leeds United in August 2022 after a spell as assistant coach with the England U18 team.
His time at Elland Road saw him initially take charge of the U21 team.
The appointment saw him operate under Jesse Marsch of the Los Blancos first team.
After Marsch was fired, he became interim manager.
Skubala also served as assistant manager to Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce during their short spells with the West Yorkshire giants.
Skubala joins the Imps with them in 9th place in the League One table.
They are only 4 points behind the bottom group in the play-off group, a position currently held by Barnsley with 27 points.
Leeds United have wished Skubala luck as he leaves in his first move into first-team coaching.
Commenting on the move himself, Skubala told the Imps media team: “I’m really excited to work hard with the players every day, meet the fans and be a part of Lincoln City.
I feel something here that I felt when I moved to Leeds, which is how important the fans are to the club.
Who is that?
A high-caliber appointment It goes without saying that Lincoln City have secured a high-calibre boss with the arrival of Skubala at Sincil Bank.
His departure from the England team, first as “head coach”, then from the Under-18s to join Leeds United has allowed him to learn in high-pressure circumstances.
The expectations at Elland Road – at every level – are at times feverish and with that level of expectation also comes a lot of pressure.
He has proven that he can handle this aspect of the game and his training at Leeds United has also attracted plenty of applause and praise.
Taking over a better team than Lincoln City, one in a good position, would allow the 41-year-old to make steady progress as first-team head coach.
