Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been under fire throughout the season, and despite a win in Week 9 and a 5-3 record heading into Week 10, nothing appears to be changing.
“I do agree with Pickens to a degree because it’s ridiculous,” Sherman was quoted as saying. “The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive coordinator, Matt Canada, should be fired.” He should be dismissed right away. Get him out of there. He’s a disadvantage to this kid, to this offense, and even to Kenny Pickett, because we don’t know how terrific Kenny Pickett can be.”
The problem with the offense, according to Sherman, and the reason for not getting Pickens the ball enough, is that the design isn’t getting anyone open.
“No one is running open. And George Pickens is a true old-school player. “Just throw it up to him,” Sherman suggested. “They’ve given him seven ‘go’ routes, whether over the top or back shoulders. He’s apprehended six of them. In a one-on-one situation, this man has no issue throwing up. If it’s even, or if he’s ahead, he should be getting targeted.”
The Steelers have no plans to let Canada go anytime soon, and with positive feedback on his transition from the box to the sideline, it looks he’s on the right track with the organization.
