Not only did Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka sustain an injury last night, but Takehiro Tomiyasu also “felt something,” according to Mikel Arteta.
In the Champions League, the Gunners had a smooth evening at the Emirates. They were unbeatable against Sevilla, and victories from Leandro Trossard and Saka cemented the victory. Both Saka’s knock and Tomiyasu’s injury are major concerns.
Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu might have added to the already lengthy list of injuries that Arsenal must cope with due to Mikel Arteta’s play last night.
Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey, and Jurrien Timber were already absent for the Gunners yesterday.
Even though Arsenal prevailed over Sevilla, it may have come at a price: two of their players are now having issues. Saka appeared to have injured his ankle and hobbled off the field in the second half, but Tomiyasu had already “felt something,” forcing Arsenal to substitute him at halftime. Arteta explained why the Japan international was substituted, according to Arsenal.com: “Yeah, he had some discomfort in the first half and we didn’t want to take any risks.”
“I believe it was the right decision because he has played a lot of minutes and obviously has Alex [Zinchenko] on the bench ready to come in.”

So far this season, Arsenal’s injury luck has been horrible.
Due to injury, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka have all missed games for the Gunners, making it difficult for them to launch their first-choice attack.
A serious setback is that Jesus is still out due to a hamstring injury. Now, Arsenal supporters will be hoping that Saka’s injury is minor and he will be well enough to play on Saturday.
It is concerning that Tomiyasu, who has been excellent lately, will not play in the second half because he has experienced his fair share of injury problems in recent years. Hopefully, it was only a precaution and he won’t be unable to play this weekend against Burnley.
