Capetonian Fourie, the quintessential late bloomer, received his maiden cap in June of last year, making him the oldest debutant in Springbok history. The Stormers player made up for missed time by developing into a vital Bomb Squad member with his combative, aggressive, and strategic style of play. When Bongi Mbonambi was wounded early in the match, he was crucial to the outcome. A timely reminder that one can always shine even in later years.

The 37-year-old Vermeulen, who was named Man of the Match in 2019, played a crucial role in the Springboks’ victory as they won back-to-back William Webb Ellis titles.
