In a heartfelt plea for his father’s release, Luis Diaz has spoken of his anguish and desperation.
Last week, the parents of the Liverpool winger were abducted in Colombia at gunpoint.
While his father is still unaccounted for, his mother has been located.
The kidnapping is being carried out by the left-wing guerrilla group National Liberation Army (ELN).
After scoring a stoppage-time equalizer for the Reds in a 1-1 tie at Luton on Sunday, Diaz made his appeal.
The 26-year-old announced the objective on Instagram and then shared a picture of himself wearing a T-shirt that said, “Freedom for Dad.”
The text said: “The football player isn’t talking to you today. Lucho Diaz, Luis Manuel Diaz’s son, is speaking to you today.
“Mane, my father, has been abducted. He is a devoted worker and a strong member of the family.
“I want my father’s immediate release from the ELN and the cooperation of international organizations in securing his freedom.
“Our suffering increases by the second and by the minute. There are no adequate words to express the feelings of desperation, anxiety, and myself, my mother, and my brothers. The only time this pain will end is when he returns home.
“Please free him right now, honoring his integrity and putting an end to this excruciating wait as soon as you can.
“We implore you to think again about what you’re doing and let us get him back in the spirit of love and compassion.
“I thank Colombians and the international community for the support received, thank you for so many demonstrations of affection and solidarity in this difficult time that many families in my country find themselves living.”
Diaz made his first appearance since the kidnappings on October 28 when he came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute at Kenilworth Road.
