The Giants confirmed on Saturday night that tight end and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor will be placed on injured reserve, just after they had announced that Darren Waller would not be traveling to Las Vegas to play the Raiders.
Both players are required to miss a minimum of four games due to the designation. Waller is nursing a hamstring ailment, while Taylor departed last Sunday’s game against the Jets due to a rib issue.
Darren Waller, who was already ruled out of Sunday’s game due to a hamstring injury, will not be traveling with the Giants to their away game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the organization confirmed on Saturday.
This news is concerning for the tight end because the last time Big Blue announced a player’s injury on a Saturday, it was Azeez Ojulari, who was ultimately placed on injured reserve that same day.
Two essential members of the Giants’ offensive line may return for Sunday’s matchup with the Raiders. Head coach Brian Daboll informed reporters that Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal are both doing better. They will both receive team reps at practice on Friday and be classified as questionable.
After hurting his hamstring against the Cowboys in Week 1, Thomas has not appeared in any games. Furthermore, a few weeks ago, during practice, he pulled his hamstring, which caused a delay in his return. “We’ll see,” Thomas remarked following rehearsal. “This practice we just had is the most I’ve ever done. I believe I will have a strong chance if it reacts properly.”
Neal’s ankle issue has kept him out of the last two games. Graham Gano, the kicker, is out for the season due to knee surgery and being placed on injured reserve (IR), although Thomas and Neal might return. The Giants have added kickers Randy Bullock and Cade York, who will challenge Gano for the starting position.
