ADAM Barrett believes Millwall players are “on board” with what he is trying to achieve as caretaker manager.
It remains unclear how long the 43-year-old will be at the helm of The Den, with the club’s hierarchy still searching for a permanent manager.
The Lions are said to be interviewing a number of candidates as part of their bid to replace Gary Rowett, who left by mutual consent last month.
Meanwhile, Barrett is tasked with keeping Millwall competitive on the field and trying to lift them up the Championship table.
His three games ended in defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers, sandwiched between draws at Preston North End and Watford.
With all of these matches taking place over a seven-day period, Barrett now has a week off to try and sort things out on the training ground.
On his team’s progress so far, Barrett told NewsAtDen: “It was a tough week and I tried to change and add some things that I wanted to see.
We changed the formation, just tried to be more attacking, a little more aggressive.
I know the team well, we were limited by injuries and we had some very difficult games there.
“Yes, it was a real testing period with a quick turnaround but what I will say is that the feedback from the players and the feedback from the staff has been great, you can see that the whole team are actually working together.
“We could have easily finished here with more points and I’m not making excuses, but the little things didn’t really go our way.
Big decisions against Blackburn cost us and then we put ourselves in a good position against Watford and hopefully we can do that.
“I think the answer is yes, I think the guys are buying into it and working very hard.
The attitude is perfect.
Millwall’s next game is against Southampton and Barrett is expecting a tough afternoon at The Den against his former Premier League side.
He added: “I think there are a lot of signs that we are improving, that we are working extremely hard.
Now we just need to play better at the important moments.
“It won’t be any more difficult than Saturday against Southampton.
“They have found their form recently and they are a good team and we know they are dangerous and threatening, especially in the upper part of the pitch.
