Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez scored one of the best goals scored by a Red Devils player of the season against Bournemouth to send them into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

goalkeeper and then hit the post somehow.
He found the net in the first half, but as expected, his failure caused a stir after the match.
But within a week, the Uruguayan made amends.
Entering the game in the 20th minute of the Red Devils’ Carabao Cup tie with Bournemouth, with the score at 1-1, he was pushed into space for the first time by a superb pick from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Critics were certainly ready to pounce on him from the first touch – described by the world’s leading news commentator as “terrible” – which he escaped in slippery conditions, but Núñez, undeterred, scooped it up, dribbled it in and kept going.
unleashed a dangerous shot from the left corner of the penalty area into the net.
Some might argue that the 24-year-old’s backheel in last year’s 5-2 Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat to Real Madrid remains his finest goal for the Red Devils , but this goal here towers over him – and not just because of the final score.
It was just that little bit more spectacular and silenced the home fans who were jeering when Núñez fouled.
The final strike was enough to win the match as Liverpool withstood late pressure from the relegation-threatened hosts.
It was the second time this season that Núñez came off the bench to score the winning goal, following a heroic double for Klopp’s side at Newcastle in August.
He has scored more goals than last season, when all he could manage was a first-half header in a 1-0 win over West Ham.
Although one might downplay the importance of this goal given that there are still three rounds left in the competition, it could still be an important goal of Liverpool’s season.
After Manchester City and Spurs failed at previous hurdles, Arsenal and Manchester United exited the competition on Wednesday evening at the hands of West Ham and Newcastle respectively.
This leaves Liverpool as the strongest team remaining, giving them a great chance of winning their first domestic trophy of the campaign in February.
But to focus once again on Núñez personally, this is the first time since he arrived at the Benfica club that he has scored in three consecutive matches.
This testifies to his newfound stability, as well as his excellent record in the season so far: 7 goals and 5 assists in 14 appearances.
This result is even better when you consider that he only played 665 minutes, meaning he averaged a goal every 95 minutes and contributed a goal every 65 minutes.
We’re going to have to say this very quietly for now, because there’s still a lot of work to be done.
of the work to be done.
But it seems we are witnessing the Darwin Núñez “explosion” we always thought would happen.
