Pau Torres finally proved Aston Villa’s worth after his performance against Luton Town
Pau Torres finally proved his worth for Aston Villa with his performance in the win over Luton Town on Sunday (October 29).
The 26-year-old centre-back was solid throughout the afternoon as Villa claimed a 3-1 win over the Hatters, with John McGinn and Moussa Diaby getting on the scoresheet alongside his goals against Tom Lockyer and Emiliano Martinez that.
It was one of the Spain international’s best performances for the Villans since signing for Villarreal for a big sum in the summer.
Despite Villa’s strong start to the season, Torres has not been entirely convincing in his first two months at the club.
He arrives at Birmingham with a strong reputation after some impressive performances in La Liga and attracting interest from some of European football’s biggest sides.
The defender struggled to keep up with the physicality of some of the Premier League attackers he faced and his passes were not always as accurate as he would have liked.

The Spaniard received a rating of 7.
5 for his performance by SofaScore – the highest rating among all defenders on the pitch for both sides.
He made three clearances, two interceptions and a clearance throughout the 90 minutes to help Villa win against the Hatters.
Torres also won six of the nine duels he participated in, including five of seven aerial duels, although the strike force often won many aerial duels.
He had 109 touches on the afternoon as he looked comfortable in possession, recording a pass completion rate of 95% after finding a teammate on 92 of his 97 passes.
The centre-back only lost the ball six times and he also completed his attempted dribbles.
Overall, this was a much better performance as he showed exactly why Unai Emery wanted to take him to Villa Park this season.
