Manchester United legend Eric Cantona expressed his support for Palestine through a post on his social media page.
This comes amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine that has left thousands of civilians dead.
Amid the ongoing conflict, players, fans and experts have all voiced their opinions – such as former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil’s recent post on social media.
And now United legend Cantona has shared his thoughts on the matter, albeit by sharing an image originally posted by a political activist.
On Instagram, Cantona posted the photo and tagged Lebanese-Canadian author Najwa Zebian – who originally shared the post.

The Frenchman took to Instagram to share the message that was originally posted by a political activist
The Instagram post reads:
“Defending Palestinian human rights does not mean you support Hamas.
“Saying ‘Free Palestine’ doesn’t mean you’re anti-Semitic or that you ‘want all Jews to disappear.
‘
“Free Palestine” means liberating Palestinians from the Israeli occupation that has deprived them of basic human rights for 75 years.
“Liberating Palestine” means stopping locking up 2.
3 million Palestinians in the world’s largest open-air prison, half of whom are children.
“Liberation of Palestine” means ending the apartheid regime imposed by the Israeli government.
“Liberating Palestine” means giving Palestinians control over their country’s basic infrastructure.
Reports indicate that 300 civilians were killed in Israel and dozens more held hostage, while retaliatory attacks by Israeli forces killed 313 people in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were assembling for a ground offensive into Palestinian territory, but it was called off at the last minute over the weekend amid reports they had received new information about hostages held by Hamas.
Former United star Cantona is one of the few former players to speak out about the conflict.
Celtic fans recently held up banners reading “Free Palestine” and “Victory for the Resistance”.
Several football-related protests have taken place since the start of the conflict, such as Mesut Özil posting on his own social media account.
On Friday morning, Özil posted on X, formerly Twitter, calling for an end to the war, while also showing his support for Palestine.
His message read:
“I pray for humanity.
I pray for peace,” the 34-year-old man wrote along with two prayer emojis and a Palestinian flag.
Similarly, Celtic fans, before the Scottish Premiership match against Kilmarnock, unfurled “Free Palestine” and “Victory for the Resistance” banners at Celtic Park.
