Liverpool is considering paying $60 million for an attacker from the Bundesliga.
For their Dutch winger Donyell Malen, Borussia Dortmund will demand at least €60 million from suitors like Liverpool.
Donyell Malen is reportedly a target for Liverpool, as manager Jurgen Klopp sees the Dutchman as a Mohamed Salah successor, according to Sport Bild. To recoup their investment, Borussia Dortmund may seek at least €60 million in order to sell the forward.
When Borussia Dortmund lost Jadon Sancho to Manchester United in the summer of 2021, they immediately started the process of acquiring Donyell Malen as a potential successor. The Dutch winger, who later cost €30 million, was viewed as a failure during his initial Bundesliga season.
Malen did improve the next year, scoring nine goals, and he has already scored four goals this year. Dortmund has therefore placed a relatively high value on the player’s head because they can see a clear improvement in his performance.
Jurgen Klopp has recently expressed interest in Malen as the German manager continues to search for a Mohamed Salah alternative. Although Liverpool will undoubtedly aim to play with the Egyptian for the entire current campaign, there is a risk that he will leave the team in 2024.
Malen is on the Reds’ shortlist of prospective replacement candidates because they want to be ready for anything that can happen. They also have Federico Chiesa on their radar because Liverpool has been following the Italian winger for a while.
In a similar vein, Liverpool should consider Jarrod Bowen if they feel the need to add a player from the Premier League. Now that they have these connections to Malen, their search for Salah’s heir is much more intriguing.
The club Dortmund has always been willing to sell its top athletes. The report claims Malen also has a price, much like every previous player they have fired. Currently, they aim to increase their investment in the Bundesliga forward, who is valued at €60 million.
Dortmund, where the 24-year-old is currently in peak form and reaching his full potential, will make sure that any potential buyer will have to pay close to that amount. If the chance arises, the Bundesliga forward, who is valued at €60 million, will undoubtedly think about moving to Merseyside.
As things stand, though, Liverpool will continue to keep an eye on his season and probably hinge their choice on what happens with Salah. Although they would want to sell the Egyptian only in the summer, the Saudis could come up with a surprise as early as January.
