Why does Mauricio Pochettino have lemons in his Chelsea office?
Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, recently stated why he keeps lemons in his office, saying that they serve to dispel any unfavorable vibes that may be present at the team. According to the Argentine manager, it was successful at Tottenham Hotspur.
He needed many seasons at Spurs before he could turn them into a top team. He will also be hoping it succeeds at Chelsea, where the team has recently struggled with a number of injuries and poor performance compared to previous season.
There is already pressure on the Blues to turn things around in the upcoming match because they have only won one of their first five Premier League games this year.
The Argentine manager maintains a bowl of lemons nearby in addition to his training and other activities to deflect any bad vibes, as he subsequently said during a press conference (h/t Metro). He further added:
They began working at Tottenham after two years. Give the lemons some time. We all have a strong belief in it. You must put all of your beliefs into practice if you want to have positive energy. Although I do believe in the lemon theory, at Tottenham they started to work after 1.5 or 2 years. Although they take a while and are not magical, I still have faith in them now more than ever.
It’s healthy to have faith, and we can only hope that it works if Mauricio Pochettino thinks it can actually assist absorb bad energy. Chelsea is already plagued by injuries and subpar play, which has left us in a challenging position. The manager will be aware that he needs to make a change quickly since the fans are growing exceedingly impatient.
The lemons may have begun to bear fruit two years into his tenure at Tottenham, but there is no guarantee he will enjoy a same level of comfort while playing for Chelsea. Todd Boehly might not have the patience to wait for Pochettinos’s lemons to start working given his competitive nature.
The good news is that we are playing much better now, and when our forwards start scoring, we will become a truly dominant team. Pochettino will have a world-class squad ready to rule the Premier League and contend for the Champions League once all injured players have fully recovered.
