Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Liverpool, made his official club debut on Thursday night.
The 21-year-old made his Europa League debut against LASK after joining Liverpool from Bayern Munich on the final day of the transfer window.
In the 3-1 victory, Gravenberch performed admirably, performing well to set up Luis Diaz for the Reds’ first goal.
The Dutchman appeared reliable in the middle of the field, making snap judgments and sprinkling shrewd passes all over the field.
Gravenberch completed four crucial passes, had 49 touches with the ball, and contributed a tackle, according to Whoscored.com.
Following the game, Jurgen Klopp praised Gravenberch in an interview with the Liverpool media group and website.
In our opinion
Gravenberch’s talent, promise, and the fact that the move appeared uncertain for a while all contributed to the hype surrounding his signing with Liverpool.
Given his lack of extensive game time, Klopp made the right decision by not pressing him into action.
It will be interesting to see how Gravenberch performs for Liverpool when he shifts up gears and gets up to speed.
