In 1985, the first Domino’s location in the UK opened in Luton.
The erection of the new Bobbers Stand was just one aspect of the extensive renovations that Kenilworth Road, home of Luton Town, underwent during the summer to bring it up to Premier League standards.
To remind visiting supporters of the brand and the town’s shared heritage and their ascent to the top of English football, Domino’s Pizza has collaborated with Luton Town F.C. to sponsor the club’s renowned Oak Road Stand before the start of the new season. The collaboration will pay tribute to Luton Town’s ascent to top-flight soccer between its founding in 1885 and the opening of Domino’s first UK location a century later, in 1985.
Due to its distinctive positioning tucked between a series of terraced homes, the stand’s entrances attracted notice from all over the world. In an effort to commemorate the now-famous stand and support its hometown team, Luton and Domino’s have teamed up in advance of the forthcoming season.
Since the club was promoted to the first division, everyone has worked nonstop for the past 13 weeks to prepare Kenilworth Road to receive some of the biggest clubs in football, together with their supporters.
Chris Bell, the commercial director of Luton Town F. C., said: “This season is expected to be the largest for the club, and we know the community will come together to support our players at every game. That also applies to the neighborhood businesses, Domino’s being one of the originals.
They have been a fixture in our community for more than 38 years and are just as enduring as Luton Town FC. We have a very similar past, having grown our fan bases and performed on the highest stages.
“With the support firmly in our corner as we enter the most challenging football season we’ve ever faced, we’re proud to be working alongside such an iconic and beloved brand to support our team and our town,” the company said.
The new location, formerly known as “The Domino’s Oak Stand,” will feature historic Domino’s retail signage at both of its Oak Road entrances as a tribute to the club. The club was founded 100 years before the first Domino’s store ever opened, and each pair of doors will include the inscription “History is Made in Luton,” commemorating that fact.
The agreement solidifies Domino’s brand’s roots in Luton, according to the company’s head of sponsorships: “Luton is a huge part of our history and is entwined with our brand identity, and it’s something we’re tremendously proud off. The Kenilworth Road stadium and the illustrious Oak Road Stand are both sources of pride for Luton Town F.C.
Being a part of that historic 23/24 season means a lot to our brand and to our supporters as well. The team has demonstrated a champion-like attitude to reach the top of English football.
Being a part of the community is important to our business, especially for our neighborhood shops, therefore it is an honor to be able to support Luton as they begin their most successful season yet. Hatters, we’re rooting for you this season. Literally!”
It will be in place for Luton Town F.C.’s first home game at Kenilworth Road against West Ham and will see Domino’s sponsor the famous entrance for the full 23/24 season.
